How the calculations work — assumptions & sources

Stocking is a planning comparison

Planning load = estimated fish biomass ÷ (pond litres / 1,000 × your chosen kg baseline) × 100. The default 1 kg per 1,000 L is an adjustable WakeyKoi planning assumption, not a researched universal stocking limit. A reading below 100% does not establish that more fish can be added. Adult space, behaviour, oxygen, feeding and water tests matter too.

Where weight is unknown, kg per fish = K × length³ / 100,000 (length in cm). The illustrative body-shape factors are 2 for koi, common goldfish, carp and tench; 3 for fancy goldfish; 1 for orfe; 0.6 for sturgeon. These are working estimates, not species-validated weight curves. Future biomass scales with the cube of your chosen planning length. It is a scenario, not a growth prediction.

Two different filtration jobs

Biological load compares the recorded daily food against documented feed-handling capacity of operating filters. Without a g/day specification it remains unquantified. Manufacturer pond-size ratings and media surface areas are shown separately; neither proves actual ammonia-processing ability.

Mechanical circulation uses measured flow through mechanical circuits. Filters in series share one flow; the lowest recorded maximum constrains that circuit. Independent parallel flows are added. Flow measures circulation, not the percentage of dirt removed. Blank ratings and missing flow stay unknown.
