Getting the right food to the bottom is different from simply adding more food.
Check the complete diet
Confirm a specialist sturgeon diet with suitable protein and oil for the species and life stage. The word “sinking” describes behaviour in water, not nutritional adequacy. Ask for the current product specification if it is missing.
Watch where the ration goes
Surface-feeding fish may intercept pellets. Observe the sturgeon eating and choose a routine that allows reliable access without leaving excessive waste on the bottom.
Cold water is not a universal stop signal
Do not automatically apply a koi winter feeding rule. Seek species-specific guidance and monitor condition and appetite through the seasons.
If the fish is losing condition
Review diet, actual access, temperature, oxygen and health rather than merely increasing the amount. Contact an experienced specialist with photographs and the food label. Do not rely on the calculator to diagnose a feeding problem.
Watch the individual fish
Record whether the sturgeon reaches its food, what else takes the pellets and the ration you offer. Short observations of the actual feeding session help explain a problem that a total daily food weight can hide.
