Symptoms & urgent help
Cloudy eyes and eye injuries
A cloudy eye can follow trauma or other disease. Water quality and the fish’s normal eye shape both matter.
Record the change
Note whether the cloudiness affects the surface, the inside of the eye, one eye or both. A dated photograph can help a vet compare progress.
Make the surroundings safer
Check rough décor and narrow gaps, particularly for telescope-eyed fancy goldfish. Observe whether the fish can find food without competition.
Avoid eye treatments by guesswork
Do not apply human eye drops or household antiseptics. Persistent cloudiness, obvious injury or deteriorating behaviour needs professional assessment.
