A fancy goldfish’s normal head growth should be distinguished from a new lesion. New lumps still deserve attention.
Compare with the usual appearance
Record a bump’s position, size and surface. Goldfish can develop skin tumours and other growths; a visual label is not a diagnosis.
Watch function
Notice whether the fish can see, eat and breathe normally. If head growth obstructs these functions, ask a fish vet about assessment.
Avoid home trimming
Do not cut a wen or squeeze white areas. Keep photographs and water results for a professional, particularly if there is redness or rapid change.
