Biosecurity means practical routines that reduce the transfer of disease between fish, water and equipment.
Separate the routine
Use dedicated nets, bowls and hoses for quarantine. Plan which system you work on first and avoid splashing water between them. Label equipment so another helper can follow the same routine.
Clean before disinfecting
Organic material can undermine cleaning plans. Choose an appropriate disinfectant procedure with professional guidance, including contact time and rinsing or drying requirements before equipment touches fish again.
Keep origin records
Save supplier details and new-fish dates. If illness develops, that timeline helps the investigation and protects other keepers from preventable transfers.
