Do not pull

Photograph what is visible without handling or tugging at the tissue. Take the image and fish history to a fish-health professional.

Diagnosis and follow-up

Worm identification and life cycle affect the management plan. One disappearing worm does not establish that the system is clear.

Check companions

Record which fish are affected, where live foods came from and recent stock additions. Do not share equipment while the cause is investigated.
