Reporting suspected serious fish disease
Some serious fish diseases require immediate reporting. Reporting rules depend on where the fish are kept.
England and Wales
Use the Fish Health Inspectorate contact route on GOV.UK if you suspect a listed disease or unexplained increased mortality. Do not wait for a home diagnosis.
Elsewhere in the UK
Consult the official guidance for the relevant authority in Scotland or Northern Ireland. The GOV.UK page links the reporting responsibilities and current contacts.
Before moving anything
Avoid moving fish, water or equipment from the affected system and follow the authority’s instructions. Keep supplier records, a timeline and water results available.
